A Shift in Perspective

In the past, I always used my limited human understanding and feelings to judge the value of daily things, growth, and work. Life is so short, uncertain, and fleeting. Human abilities and actions seem hopeless in the face of death and insignificant in the face of eternity. Because of this, I would often fall into negative emotions, thinking everything was empty, meaningless, and worthless.

Looking back, so much time was spent in such wandering and sighing.

When I turned my gaze to God and thought about “glorifying God and enjoying Him,” light shone in. Things I once deemed meaningless and worthless gained a new chance for evaluation, using the perspective of “whether it glorifies God,” instead of my own understanding and feelings.

Another thing to watch out for is, when deciding to do something, I need to stop and think: is this to glorify myself, or to glorify God? Often, it is to satisfy my own pride.
