Teach Us to Number Our Days That We May Gain a Heart of Wisdom
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."—Psalm 90:12. This verse has moved me deeply lately. Life is limited, time flies, and I’ve accomplished so little. I often feel like I’ve wasted my days.
But even if I’ve achieved some things, what does it matter? In the end, there’s still only death.
Thank God. There’s a path to a beautiful life, and I’m sure it’s there; one that’s prepared just for me, I’m sure of it. Yet, my vision is clouded, my heart confused, my body weak. I can’t find the right direction, and I often think life is long, just drifting along. When I search without finding, I feel sad and fill the void with fleeting things like food, desire, and shopping. These truly are empty.
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” It’s like a beacon on a dark night. The way may not be clear, but at least the direction is there.
How should I number my days?
Commit each day to God, have a strong relationship with Him, live honestly, devoutly, and earnestly, follow the initial stirring in my heart, act decisively and bravely. Have hope inside, believe, live with love.
That’s it for now, today’s inspiration.
