Diff, born in the ’80s, hails from Changsha, Hunan. Christian, designer, husband to one woman, dad to three kids. Started getting into the internet during college in 2001, obsessed with web design and Flash animation, lucky to have lived through China’s freest internet era. Pivoted to app design in 2009, among China’s earliest mobile internet designers. From 2013 to 2019, as the 7th employee and first designer, I fully participated in Liulishuo’s journey from a startup in a living room to an NYSE IPO (NYSE: LAIX). Lived in Hangzhou and Shanghai. Now in Dallas, Texas, USA.

Timeline

  • 2005: Graduated with a degree in art design from Central South University.
  • 2006: Moved to Hangzhou, started attending a house church there two months later (a personal experience of God leading me to ’leave your country, your people’).
  • 2008: Baptized and committed to Christ.
  • 2006 to 2013: Joined various startups, always at the cutting edge, worked on projects like online travel, video sites, music sites, mobile OS. Tried starting my own thing for a year, ended up stepping back.
  • May 4, 2013: Joined Liulishuo as the 7th employee, moved with the team to Shanghai.
  • September 2018: Liulishuo went public on NASDAQ.
  • May 4, 2019: Left Liulishuo. Over the past six years, led a design team of over 50 people and a kid-focused Liulishuo business team of around 140.
  • 2019 to 2021: Took time off, did some design consulting on the side.
  • January 2021: Joined a special team as a designer.
  • August 8, 2022: Immigrated to the U.S., settled in Los Angeles.
  • August 8, 2024: Moved to Dallas.
  • March 30, 2026: Became an indie developer who can’t code.
