About Diff

Diff, born in the 1980s in Changsha, Hunan. Christian, designer, husband to one wife, and father of three kids. Got into the internet during college in 2001, obsessed with web design and Flash animation, lucky to experience the freest era of the Chinese internet. Transitioned to app design in 2009 and became one of China’s earliest mobile internet designers. From 2013 to 2019, as the 7th employee and first designer, I was fully involved with Liulishuo from its startup days in a local apartment to its IPO on the NYSE (NYSE: LAIX). Lived in Hangzhou and Shanghai. Now living in Dallas, Texas, USA.

Timeline

• 2005: Graduated in Art Design from Central South University.
• 2006: Moved to Hangzhou, started attending a house church there two months later (an experience where God led me to ’leave your country, your people’).
• 2008: Baptized and converted to Christ.
• 2006 to 2013: Joined various startups, always at the industry’s leading edge, worked on online travel, video sites, music sites, mobile OS, and even tried a year of my own startup which I eventually left.
• May 4, 2013: Joined Liulishuo startup team as the 7th employee and moved to Shanghai with the team.
• September 2018: Liulishuo went public on NASDAQ.
• May 4, 2019: Left Liulishuo. Over six years, led a design team of over 50 and the kids’ Liulishuo business team of about 140.
• 2019 to 2021: Stayed at home, did some freelance design consulting projects on the side.
• January 2021: Joined a special team as a designer.
• August 8, 2022: Immigrated to the US, initially settled in Los Angeles.
• August 8, 2024: Moved to Dallas.
• March 30, 2026: Became an independent developer who can’t code.
